Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears. When booking an appointment with the nurse, it would be helpful if you could tell the receptionist what the appointment is for to enable them to direct you to the appropriate clinic.
We have two regular Healthcare Assistants who perform phlebotomy, 24 hour BP monitoring, anticoagulation clinics (INR), new patient health checks, blood pressure monitoring via protocol and flu vaccinations. We also have three dual-role Healthcare Assistants who have undertaken the same high level of training, whilst also working in another role at the practice.
Deputy Practice Manager
The Secretaries process all practice referrals, scan and code the hospital letters, new patient summaries, action doctor's reports and provide copies of medical records on request from solicitors and insurance companies. They each also have a specialised workload.
Promotes the appropriate prescribing of medications within the practice, and offers medicine related day-to-day advice to our clinicians as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
